In this step, you will enter your Room Types and assign the corresponding default Rate Plans you just created in the previous step. Think about how you group Rooms by “type” with basic descriptions, bed count and max guest count.

A Room Type is a group of similarly priced Rooms which have a common description like Queen, or represent a unique room like Romance Suite.

Add as many Room Types as needed. To see the Room Types you have created, click on “View Room Types”. If you need to add another Rate Plan, go back to “Rates”.

When you are finished, go to the next step to set up the Rooms associated with each Room Type.

Each Room Type will have an inventory of Rooms available which will be added in the next step, Rooms.

Enter your Room Types

Set up your Room Types. This section of the Wizard will walk you through adding your room types with basic description, bed count and max guest count etc. Once you have your Room Types defined and added here, we will identify the rooms or room numbers associated with these types.


  • Room Type ID: Enter the #, letter or name that you use to identify the room.
  • Description: This will display online to guests booking online.
  • Default Rate ID: choose the Rate Plan for this Room Type.
  • Max Guests: Enter the maximum number guests for this Room Type

To view Room Types or make changes, click “View Room Types.” 

Click ‘Continue’ once you have entered all of your Room Types.

 

Example of Room Types

Remember that Room Types is a way to group similarly priced bed configuration rooms.

For example for a hotel/motel could be QUEEN -  Queen Room or DOUBLE - 2 Double Beds

An example for a Bed and Breakfast that has unique rooms could be a SUITE - Romance Suite, COTTAGE - 2 Bedroom Cottage
