There are a number of properties outside the United States that do, or wish to, sell in US dollars. For example, you can sell and are set-up for USD within BookingCenter, but are located in Argentina. Some travel sites allow this, but Booking.com does not.

Booking.com has a policy/requirement that properties sell in their local currency. That said, BookingCenter has outlined steps below to accommodate for this policy. There are two ways to do this.

  1. Create a new rate plan for the Booking.com channel/agent (BKGDIR). Note that this rate plan will be in your local currency (i.e. non-USD).
    1. As the currency fluctuates, you please be sure to update your rates.
    2. Steps can be found at: https://docs.bookingcenter.com/display/MYPMS/Add+Single+Rate
    3. When complete, please work with the Support Team to allocate this new rate plan to the Booking.com agent, or
  2. Use Rate Loading. Details can be found at: https://docs.bookingcenter.com/display/MYPMS/Rate+Loading
    1. This will allow you to increase or decrease your rates by a set percentage. If the exchange rate was USD 1.00 to GBP 1.43, you would use rate loading at 143; or 143%
    2. As the currency fluctuates, you please be sure to update this percentage.

NOTE: Option #1 is the recommended strategy.

The key operational challenge with this is changing your rates “back” to USD after the reservation imports into BookingCenter. When this is done, all reports and details will be correct.

Note: The one market where this does not apply is Mexico. Booking.com does allow properties to sell in USD in Mexico. Booking.com has said they are exploring options to expand this strategy outside Mexico, but nothing has been confirmed to date.
